Senior Platform / Backend Engineer

Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Senior Platform / Backend Engineer to work for a key client based in Cambridge

**Please note this role falls inside IR35 and will be onsite 2 days a week in Cambridge**

Essential Skills:
* TypeScript & common packages/frameworks (NestJS/Fastify etc.)
* Policy Engines (Cerbos, opa, cedar etc.)
* Authorisation Patterns (ABAC, RBAC etc.)
* Authentication Systems (oauth, OIDC, EntraID OBO, JWT/JWKS, Basic Auth etc.)
* Advanced Database Design (PostgreSQL, migrations, common packages & extensions)
* API Patterns & integrations (REST, GraphQL)
* Software Architecture Patterns (Modular Monolith etc.)
* Best Practices (OWASP, OOP, SOLID, DRY, DDD, contracts, integrations, security, backend workers etc.)
* Monitoring & Telemetry (OTEL, DynaTrace etc.)
* VCS & CICD (GitLab)
* Spec driven AI development (e.g. Codex, Claude Code, Cursor or Kiro – NOT vibe coding!)
* OpenAPI / Swagger spec
* GitLab
* Terraform / Ansible
* Spacelift
* Docker/Kubernetes/Helm
* CI/CD
