Nutanix Testing Specialist

Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Nutanix Testing Specialist to work with a key client.

**Please note this role falls INSIDE IR35**

We are seeking an experienced Testing Specialist to lead the planning, coordination, execution, and assurance of infrastructure, disaster recovery, security, and operational readiness testing activities across a complex enterprise environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing comprehensive test strategies, challenging vendor-delivered testing, identifying coverage gaps, and ensuring that all infrastructure platforms are validated against functional, operational, resilience, and security requirements.
This role requires strong hands-on expertise in Nutanix technologies, infrastructure operations, disaster recovery testing, and governance, alongside the ability to engage confidently with technical stakeholders, vendors, architects, and programme leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities

• Define and own end-to-end infrastructure testing strategies, plans, entry and exit criteria, success measures, and traceability matrices.
• Lead testing activities across infrastructure, operational readiness, disaster recovery, security, migration, and resilience workstreams.
• Review, challenge, and validate vendor-produced test plans, ensuring sufficient coverage, evidence, and alignment with programme objectives.
• Identify testing gaps, risks, dependencies, and remediation actions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design and execute complex functional and non-functional test scenarios, including negative testing, failover testing, backup restoration, and operational validation.
• Facilitate defect triage, issue management, and stakeholder reporting during testing cycles.
• Produce clear test evidence, reports, recommendations, and go-live readiness assessments.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, operations, architecture, and vendor teams to ensure successful delivery and operational acceptance.

Technical Skills & Experience
Nutanix Platform Expertise

• Strong knowledge of Nutanix NC2, Nutanix AOS, and AHV environments.
• Hands-on experience with Prism Central and Prism Element administration.
• Experience planning and validating Life Cycle Management (LCM) upgrades and platform patching activities.
• Strong understanding of virtual machinelifecycle management, including:
  • VM creation, deployment, startup, shutdown, and decommissioning.
  • Snapshot management and recovery validation.
  • VM cloning and template deployment.

Networking & Security

• Understanding of VPCs, VLANs, subnets, routing, and east-west connectivity testing.
• Experience validating micro-segmentation controls using Nutanix Flow and familiarity with VMware NSX Distributed Firewall (DFW) concepts.
• Knowledge of security controls including:
  • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
  • Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID integration.
  • Encryption at rest.
  • Network security policy testing.
  • CyberArk privileged access management.
  • Security monitoring through Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender.

Disaster Recovery & Resilience

• Strong experience with Nutanix Leap and disaster recovery testing.
• Ability to design and execute:
  • Replication validation testing.
  • Planned failover and failback exercises.
  • Unplanned disaster recovery scenarios.
  • Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) validation.
  • Subset and partial application failover testing.
• Experience assessing business resilience and operational continuity requirements.

Operations, Monitoring & Migration

• Experience validating monitoring and alerting capabilities within Prism Central and Prism X-Play.
• Knowledge of Cohesity backup and recovery solutions, including restore testing.
• Experience testing alert forwarding and integrations into enterprise tools such as OpsRamp.
• Experience supporting migration validation activities using Nutanix Move from VMware ESX environments.
• Ability to validate backup restoration and migration outcomes against acceptance criteria.

Testing & Leadership Competencies

• Proven experience leading infrastructure and technical testing within large-scale transformation programmes.
• Strong test governance and assurance capabilities.
• Ability to challenge technical vendors constructively and hold them accountable for quality delivery.
• Experience designing operational readiness tests such as restart sequencing, backup and restore validation, monitoring verification, and alert escalation testing.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on risk identification, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
