Infrastructure Technical Project Manager (Virtualisation / Migration)

Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Infrastructure Technical Project Manager (Virtualisation / Migration) to work with a key client based in Sheffield.

**Please note this role falls INSIDE IR35 and requires 3 Days onsite in Sheffield weekly**

Project Delivery & Leadership
* Lead end-to-end delivery of infrastructure transformation projects from initiation through to implementation and operational handover.
* Manage the delivery of virtualisation, migration, cloud adoption, and infrastructure modernisation initiatives.
* Develop and maintain project plans, RAID logs, delivery roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, and governance artefacts.
* Ensure successful delivery against agreed scope, budget, timelines, quality standards, and business outcomes.
* Drive proactive management of risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
* Coordinate project resources across infrastructure, engineering, architecture, security, operations, and vendor teams.
* Facilitate project governance forums, steering committees, and executive reporting.

Technical Infrastructure Delivery
* Lead infrastructure migration activities including:
o VMware and hypervisor migrations
o Server modernisation programmes
o Data centre exit and consolidation initiatives
o Cloud migration and transformation projects
o Operating system upgrades and refresh programmes
o Storage and network infrastructure migrations
* Coordinate technical readiness assessments, migration planning, testing, deployment, and business validation activities.
* Ensure technical solutions align with enterprise architecture, operational standards, and cybersecurity requirements.
* Support migration wave planning and execution across multiple applications and business services. Stakeholder Management
* Build strong relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders.
* Act as the primary point of contact for project delivery across internal teams and external suppliers.
* Facilitate collaboration between architects, engineers, service managers, risk functions, and business representatives.
* Present project status, risks, delivery metrics, and decisions to senior leadership audiences.

Governance, Risk & Compliance
* Ensure adherence to project management standards, control frameworks, and governance processes.
* Manage project financials, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, data protection, resiliency, and security requirements.
* Support change management processes, implementation reviews, and postproject lessons learned activities.

Vendor & Third-Party Management
* Manage infrastructure vendors, system integrators, and delivery partners.
* Track supplier performance against agreed deliverables and SLAs.
* Escalate and resolve commercial, technical, and delivery issues where necessary.

Knowledge & Experience Essential Experience
* Significant experience delivering large-scale infrastructure and technical transformation projects.
* Proven experience managing virtualisation and migration programmes within enterprise environments.
* Strong understanding of:
o VMware vSphere
o Hyper-V
o Virtualisation platforms
o Windows and Linux server environments
o Storage technologies
o Enterprise networking
o Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS and/or GCP)
* Experience managing cross-functional technical teams operating across multiple regions.
*Demonstrated ability to deliver complex infrastructure initiatives within controlled and regulated environments.
* Strong stakeholder management experience with senior technology and business leaders.
* Experience managing project budgets, resource plans, and third-party suppliers. Preferred Experience
* Experience within banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
* Experience delivering:
o Data centre migration programmes
o Cloud transformation initiatives
o Application migration projects
o Infrastructure refresh and remediation programmes
o Resilience and disaster recovery initiatives
* Working knowledge of DevOps, automation, and infrastructure-as-code capabilities.

Technical Skills
* VMware vSphere and associated migration technologies
* Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP)
* Windows Server and Linux platforms
* Storage and backup technologies
* Enterprise networking concepts
* Infrastructure monitoring and operational tooling
* Service management principles (ITIL)
* Project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid)
* RAID management and governance reporting
* Financial and resource management
