Job Spec:
Use deep, hands-on knowledge of the Databricks platform to design and deliver a training scheme enabling colleagues to build applications on Databricks.

Create practical, reusable learning content for two audiences: analysts building lightweight applications for their teams, and full-stack application engineers building complex, maintainable enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define a shared foundation and tailored training experiences for two stakeholder groups:
  • Analyst pathway. For people without a full-stack software engineering background, focused on using approved patterns to build lightweight applications for team use cases.
  • Application engineer pathway. For experienced engineers building larger, complex applications that need to be secure, scalable, maintainable and supported over time.
  • Work with Data Strategy lead, platform, data engineering, security and business stakeholders to ensure the training you develop reflects approved enterprise patterns and current Databricks capabilities.
  • Create resources such as lecture slides, facilitator and learner guides, reference applications, reusable templates, Databricks notebooks, lab exercises, quizzes, FAQs and short how-to video content that teach the application lifecycle at the appropriate depth.
  • Pilot and deliver in-person and asynchronous training, together with training delivery team, for audiences ranging from beginner to advanced, using feedback to make improvements.

Key Requirements

  • Deep Databricks expertise is a requirement for this role.
  • Deep, current and hands-on knowledge of Databricks, including how the platform’s core capabilities work together to build, deploy, govern and operate applications.
  • Technical knowledge of python based application building tools – could be streamlit, flask, react.
  • A strong track record of building applications on Databricks in enterprise environments, with practical experience across data engineering, analytics and/or machine learning workflows.
  • An appreciation of what makes effective in-person and online learning experiences.
  • Ability to turn complex technical concepts into clear learning materials, tutorials and documentation.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage both non-full-stack analysts and experienced application engineers.
  • Sound understanding of the software engineering practices needed for secure, maintainable production applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and business stakeholders.

Desirable Experience:

  • The following would be beneficial but are not essential:
  • Experience developing and delivering enterprise technical training in classroom, hybrid or online formats.
  • Experience creating instructional content, such as training videos
  • Curriculum development or instructional design experience.
  • Databricks certification.
