Senior SAP FICO Consultant – S/4HANA Brownfield Conversion & Digital Planning

Senior SAP FICO Consultant required by Whitehall Resources for a 6+ Month extendable project assignment for our client based in Switzerland.

Start Date: December 2026/January 2027
Duration: Long-term; currently planned at least until mid-2027
Onboarding Approx. 6-8 weeks due to personnel security checks
Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Workload: 40% / 2 days per week
Delivery: 1-2 days per week onsite, rest remote
Language: Fluent English or Fluent German

Our client, a consulting firm, is looking for a Senior SAP FICO Consultant to support a major Swiss banking client during an SAP S/4HANA Brownfield Conversion. The consultant will be responsible for supporting the S/4HANA migration in the FI/CO environment, with a particular focus on CO planning and Digital Planning. A key part of the role is the conceptualization and realization of Digital Planning / CO Planning processes, combined with the technical execution and functional implementation of the S/4HANA conversion in the FICO environment. The project is long-term, with the current concept phase expected to run until at least mid-2027.

Three Absolute Must-Have Skills:

1. Strong SAP CO / CO Planning Expertise The candidate must have deep SAP Controlling expertise, with particular strength in planning processes within SAP CO. This is the core functional requirement of the role.

2. Proven SAP S/4HANA Brownfield Migration Experience Candidates should have hands-on experience supporting or delivering SAP S/4HANA Brownfield transformations/migrations, ideally in a complex enterprise environment. Experience with the technical and functional implications of migrating existing SAP processes is particularly important.

3. Hands-on SAP Customizing + Process/Concept Design The candidate must be able to work beyond pure advisory activities: they need to design processes and solutions, conduct customer workshops, and implement/configure the resulting solutions through hands-on SAP Customizing.

Key Responsibilities
S/4HANA Brownfield Conversion – FI/CO

– Support and technically accompany the SAP S/4HANA Brownfield Conversion in the FI/CO environment
– Contribute to the technical execution and functional implementation of the S/4HANA conversion
– Assess existing FI/CO processes and support their transition to S/4HANA
– Identify migration, process, and configuration requirements resulting from the S/4HANA transformation
– Provide hands-on support throughout the conversion and implementation activities
– Work closely with the client and other SAP workstreams to ensure a successful FI/CO transformation

Digital Planning / CO Planning
– Take a leading role in the conceptualization and realization of Digital Planning
– Design and further develop CO planning processes
– Translate business requirements into sustainable SAP planning solutions
– Define target processes and concepts for planning in the S/4HANA environment
– Support the implementation and realization of the defined planning concepts
– Work closely with business stakeholders to ensure that planning processes meet the client’s requirements

Consulting & Implementation
– Develop functional and technical concepts and process designs
– Conduct and facilitate customer workshops
– Translate business requirements into SAP solutions
– Perform hands-on SAP Customizing
– Provide functional and technical guidance to the client
– Work independently with senior stakeholders in a complex banking environment

Required Profile
We are looking for a senior-level SAP FICO professional (minimum 5 years exp.) with strong functional expertise in SAP CO and the ability to operate comfortably between business requirements, process design, and technical SAP implementation.

Essential Requirements
– Several years of hands-on SAP FICO consulting experience
– Strong expertise in SAP CO, particularly CO planning / Digital Planning
– Experience in the conceptualization and realization of planning processes
– Proven experience with S/4HANA Brownfield Migrations / Transformations
– Strong capabilities in process design and conceptual work
– Experience conducting customer workshops
– Solid hands-on experience with SAP Customizing
– Ability to work independently with senior client stakeholders
– Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
– Fluent English or German
– Ability and willingness to work remotely from Switzerland
– Minimum 1 day per week on-site at the client in Zurich. 2 days per week on-site at the client is also possible. So, remote work is possible but only in Switzerland, working from abroad is not possible.
– Candidates based in Switzerland are preferred; candidates from abroad must be willing to travel to Switzerland on a weekly basis and work there 100%, either remote or onsite.
