Head of Testing

Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a head of Testing.
This role will be Inside of IR35, so you will be required to use an FCSA Accredited Umbrella Company.
Key Requirements:
– Strong Test Leadership & Delivery Oversight,
– Ability to Define & Demonstrate „What Good Looks Like“.
– Hands On Coaching & Capability Build.
– Delivery Oriented Mindset.
Key Experience:
– Exceptional communications skills with ability to engage at C-Suite level as well as a detailed technical level.
– Ability to translate the detailed micro level technical detail into clearly articulated macro views which can be positioned at board level.
– Proven experience leading test teams on complex, multi‑workstream programmes.
– Ability to establish and embed effective test governance, reporting, and quality gates.
– Skilled at identifying and managing risk with a pragmatic, delivery‑focused mindset.
– Clear understanding of modern test practices, tools, and methodologies.
– Can quickly assess current maturity and define a structured, realistic uplift plan.
– Able to coach team members through best‑practice approaches and model effective behaviours.
– Comfortable working closely with the existing test lead to guide, upskill, and support his continued development.
– Strong mentoring capability – able to provide constructive challenge, support decision‑making, and build confidence within the test function.
– Able to rapidly come up to speed and add value in a fast‑moving programme.
– Focused on enabling the team to meet immediate milestones – specifically the first Go‑Live at end of July.
– Operates collaboratively with programme leadership, delivery partners, and cross‑functional teams.
– Communicates clearly and credibly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
– Builds trust quickly and can act as a stabilising and confidence‑building presence.
Desirable Skills:
– Recent programme demands have highlighted the need for additional senior test oversight – specifically, someone who can help shape „what good looks like“ for test function and provide guidance and structure to uplift capability within the team.
