Raising money for the fantastic:
On Friday 28th August 2015, ten employees of Whitehall Resources became contestants in The WHR Bake Off. The Bake Off kick started Friday morning in our offices in Colchester, where ten hungry and competitive WHR bakers nervously stood and watched whilst their cakes were judged by our very own Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry.
If you haven’t noticed, the theme is based on The Great British Bake Off, which, for the last few weeks has been all over our TV screens! So we decided to tie this theme in with raising money for this amazing Charity.
Helen Rollason is a cancer charity that was founded in 1999. It is the legacy of Helen Rollason MBE, who died of cancer aged 43. Helen’s vision to provide better emotional support for cancer patients has led to the foundation of three Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centres. The centres are an environment of peace and tranquillity, complementary therapies, manual lymph drainage, counselling and support groups are available to people with cancer, their families, carers and friends. The centres are for patients with all types of cancer at all stages: whether newly diagnosed or longer term, throughout treatment and after treatment is completed.
The charity given funding has assisted in enabling more than 3000 cancer patients to participate in pioneering clinical drug trials since 2000. It is the largest Cancer Research Clinical Drug Trial Programme in the Essex Hospitals Network. The hospital’s team of research nurses work together providing care for cancer patients at two centres: Broomfield Hospital in Essex and North Middlesex University Hospital in London.
