Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Control Analyst (GRC) to work with a key client.
**Please note this role Falls INSIDE IR35**
Accountabilities
- Define and embed good practice: define what “good compliance” looks like for SDLC and DEPL Controls; coach teams on best practice and support remediation of gaps and non-compliance.
- Operate the SDLC/DEPL spot-check process: plan and run control-related spot checks for Cyber changes and applications; track outcomes, actions, and closure.
- Evidence and reporting: support teams to produce complete, audit-ready evidence (e.g., testing, approvals, change records) and maintain accurate compliance and regulatory/control reporting.
- DevOps metrics monitoring: monitor the agreed DevOps metrics used to support software delivery; identify trends, outliers, and recurring issues; recommend corrective actions.
- Training and enablement: Create and deliver clear, user-friendly training materials, guidance documents, process documentation and communications for both technical and non-technical audiences to support adoption of SDLC/DEPL controls, processes, checks and metrics.
- Stakeholder management: facilitate workshops and working sessions to clarify expectations, drive decisions, and resolve issues; manage queries and engagements in a timely manner.
- Continuous improvement: simplify and improve workflows and documentation to make compliance easier for engineering delivery teams.
- Drive adoption and evidencing of controls: Partner with application delivery teams to improve adoption of SDLC and Deployment controls, increase the quality, consistency and completeness of control evidence, and support remediation of compliance gaps identified through assurance activities.
- Risk identification and escalation: Assess, document and communicate control weaknesses, compliance issues and delivery risks to Cyber Management, Control Owners and central governance/control teams, ensuring appropriate escalation, tracking and mitigation actions are maintained.
- Data analysis and control reporting: Extract, transform, analyse and report compliance and operational control data using APIs, Excel Power Query and other appropriate tooling to identify trends, risks and opportunities for control improvement.
The role supports adherence to controls and evidence quality; delivery ownership remains with engineering teams and control ownership remains with designated Control Owners.
What you will bring
Essential
- Experience working in an Agile software delivery environment eg Change/Control Analyst, Business Analyst, Test Analyst or similar.
- Experience defining, collecting, and presenting evidence to meet control, audit or assurance expectations.
- Working knowledge of change delivery processes and tooling (e.g., ServiceNow or equivalent).
- Understanding of Governance, Risk & Compliance concepts and control-based ways of working.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including running workshops and influencing delivery teams.
- Strong reporting and analysis skills (Excel; PowerPoint; process mapping using Visio or equivalent).
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Deployment controls within software delivery environments.
- Experience implementing, assessing or managing SDLC and Deployment controls across both internally developed applications and third-party/vendor software solutions.
- Experience extracting, transforming, analysing and reporting data using APIs, Excel Power Query or similar reporting, automation and data analysis tools.
- Ability to assess, articulate and communicate compliance risks, control weaknesses and remediation requirements to technical teams, Cyber Management and central governance/control functions.
- Experience creating user-facing guidance, training materials and process documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and drive activities through to successful completion with minimal supervision.
Desirable
- Experience working with DevOps metrics and software delivery performance measures.
- Relevant industry certification (IIBA certification, ITIL, Agile/SAFe ).
- Hands-on experience with QA/test management tools (e.g., qTest, Tricentis, Zephyr).
- Knowledge of application security testing/scanning concepts (SAST/DAST/MAST) and vulnerability management.
- Experience working with Jira/Confluence/ServiceNow/Excel Power Query/Google Data Studio
